the contrast of charcoal, and drawing in general, fills an energetic need in ros. adding pigment, while with the same force, taking it away enables an aura of some presence or feeling that is omniscient, yet fleeting. every passing second is a record of time. the past, present and future come together as time remains still for a moment. obsessions of time, space, material and repetition configure themselves someplace between paper, mark and mind.
