studio visit: august 2010

I just moved into my new studio space July 1. Located in rural Shelburne, a dairy barn converted into studio spaces for visual artists and sculptors. There are twelve of us and plans underway for a grand opening event in october!
Most of July was spent moving stuff out of storage and setting up the studio space, getting reacquainted with my artwork and figuring out what I want to work on next. My summer has been about logistics [annoyingly so] Ahh, but here I am in this wonderful studio space for the next year.
I have done stitched drawings in the past [a series of routes/trails on 22x30 inch paper]. These new pieces are 4×6 inches on this luscious fabriano paper. I am playing around with combining drawings and stitching. I’m very much in process on this new series and would love to hear any feedback, reaction, comments. etc.
I also dabble in book arts from time to time. I like unusual/functional book structures I made the cover of this portfolio book by printing out a digital photograph on white cotton fabric with my inkjet printer [an idea I’ve been thinking about for awhile, essentially, I am designing my own fabric} While nature is a turn on some of the digital media accessible today is really exciting too!!

thanks for the feedback! if you find yourself in vermont , come for a visit.
Lovely studio—you are very lucky!
For me, in the new small pieces, the quality of the drawn and stitched lines evoke a more tactile experience of nature, whereas your prints (on your website) conjure a sense of breathing.
Fantastic space and really wonderful-heartfelt creations! I am envious.
what a great space. i really enjoyed seeing your studio and your work. the combination of line is wonderful and would love to see them in person.
amazing space… and as always… amazing production of the space…
you are bringing the moment and process to reality… kudos! i need to see these in person…
they seem to require touch, or at the very least further “up-close” visual investigation…
