DESCRIPTION: Creating a dialogue about the importance of artist-run totems throughout our communities. Discussion will include sustainability, practicality, and service to the community at large, but also the community of member artists. How does this interaction maintain itself, and what does it mean for the artists involved?

the thompson gallery at the cambridge school of weston is pleased to present collage at 100, a three-part exhibition series that celebrates the centennial of the appearance of collage in painting. strange glue, traditional & avant-garde collage, the first show in the series, assembles the work of more than 100 contemporary artists as it traces the transition from traditional to avant-garde approaches to papier collé.

the gabarron foundation, in honor of its 10th anniversary, is pleased to present two hemispheres, an exhibition of contemporary american and spanish artists. the purpose of this special exhibition is for american artists from new york to build a cultural dialogue with their fellow spanish artists, recognizing the strong link among the united states, latin america, and spain. the artwork will be on view until early november and will then be sent to the foundation’s other galleries in spain for additional exhibitions, where they will become part of the gabarron foundation contemporary art collection. Brooklyn College MFA Art students and faculty are pleased to announce our Spring 2012 Open Studios event. Twenty-five current Master of Fine Arts candidates will open their studios to welcome dialogue from the public on their creative processes.
john ros will be participating in a few group exhibitions and projects this december.
first, a group exhibition, cluster bomb, at the bowery poetry club.
— cluster bomb is a group exhibit on the elizabeth murray art wall of the bowery poetry club. the show is on view from 9 december 2011 to 1 january 1st 2012.

— the exhibit represents the final project for the collaborative strategies class at brooklyn college. john is part of the group called “something for naynay” performing, a public service.
galleryELL artists jennifer palmer and john ros will be working together at the bornholm residency of shelby county, kentucky. the two will be in the studio together forming a cohesive body of works on paper inspired by the landscape of the country. the residency will take place in mid may.

more than forty artists from across new york, pennsylvania and several other states, will be featured in the earthstewards coalition exhibit. this exhibit intends to encourage the viewer to explore their stance on the use of high volume hydro-fracture drilling for natural gas in their community.
