Draw(n) Out

Draw(n) Out
22 JANUARY – 15 FEBRUARY 2013

George Mason University
School of Art, Art and Design Building
Fine Art Gallery, Room 1001 | 4400 University Drive Fairfax, VA 22030

Opening Reception: THURSDAY, 24 JANUARY 2013, 6-8p

Draw(n) Out examines the work of artists who utilize drawing to explore physical manifestations and psychological perceptions of time. Notions of time—temporality, permanence, progression, flux—only add to the complexity of its definition, providing a rich framework from which artists can investigate new meaning.

The exhibition will focus on pushing the boundaries of the institutional definition of drawing, whether through the integration of mark-making with sometimes unusual materials or through a different conceptual approach to the medium, while simultaneously exploring themes of process, evolution, decay, and change.

Curated and organized by Kariann Fuqua & Nancy Hubbard.

Artists include: Barb Bondy, Matthew Choberka, Kariann Fuqua, Jodi Hays, Nancy Hubbard, Deanna Lee, Tim McDonald, Kirsten Nash & John Ros.

transient landscape: visualizing governors island
curated by john ros

thank you

galleryELL is an artist-run and artist-funded organization. without the participation and hard work of our artists, programing such as, transient landscape: visualizing governors island could not exist. i would especially like to thank nancy hubbard & joel bacon for their support with this project.

thank you to everyone at the trust for governors island for providing us with this space and the opportunity to be a part of the governors island 2011 season.

a special thanks to our sponsor, color-x, to our donors and to the golden seconds program for providing our artists-in-residence with paint.

finally, thank you to our gallery assistants andrew collins, christine bae, emma safir, lily churgin & negin moss for all their hard work and dedication.
